GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION:

Anguilla is found in Gangetic estuaries, the Bay of Bengal, the Indo-Pacific region to the seas of China and beyond.

COMMENTS:

i) Anguilla is commonly known as eel.

ii) Body is elongated, cylindrical and snake-like.

iii) It measures up to one meter in length.

iv) Small more or less linear rudimentary scales are embedded in skin.

v) The colour is brown on the back and yellowish below.

vi) Dorsal and anal fins are long and narrow.

vii) Pectoral fin small and pelvic fin is absent.

viii) Tail is long and the caudal fin is quite large.

ix) Gill- opening is narrow and minute.

ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE:

– It is used as food stuff.
