Free floating algae:
Spirulina is a free floating blue-green algae, occurring throughout the world. especially in freshwater, sea water and warm moist soil.
Vegetative structure
Spirally coil:
The plant body is long, filamentous and spirally coiled. The trichome is unicellular, cylindrical with or without distinct cross wall and sheath. The terminal cell has no calyptra. The trichomes exhibit movements along the longitudinal axis.
Cellular structure
cyanobacterial type:
It consists of cyanobacterial type of cellular organization without a true nucleus. It consists of a central colourlen region called centroplasm and peripheral coloured region of protoplasm called chromoplasm. Chromeplasm bean photosynthetic thylakoids.
