Comments T.S of spinal cord of Frog

i) Spinal cord is surrounded by two fibrous membranes, i.e durometer, pia mater.

ii) Durometer is the thicker and outer layer, pia mater is thinner and inner layer.

iii) Spinal cord is made up of two kinds of nervous tissue, i·e outer white matter and the inner gray matter.

iv) The grey matter forms the H-shaped area and is composed of ganglion cells.

v) The grey matter gives rise to four horns (cornu), two dorsal and two ventral.

Comments T.S of spinal cord of Rabbit

i) The thin layer of pia mater surrounds the spinal cord.

ii) In the mid-dorsal surface is a dorsal fissure or septum and in the mid-ventral surface is a ventral fissure.

iii) In the center there is a small cavity known as the central canal. It is lined by simple epithelial cells.

iv) The substance of the cord is differentiated into two zones i.e the central zone surrounding the central canal and is called grey matter and a peripheral zone called white matter.

v) Grey matter is H-shaped projecting dorsally into two dorsal horns and ventrally into two ventral horns.
