Method of Solid Waste Sampling: Comprehensive Study

THEORY:

  Collection of sample is first step in estimating the composition of solid waste.

1. Frequency and timing of samples collection should be carefully.
2. Sample collection should extent over a full work in each season.
3. It is important to note that the large the no. of samples more representative are the result.
4. Location of sampling station is also important in analysis of MSW.
5. Ideal location for sampling are the transfer station located all over city.
6. Sample should be collected from as many different location as possible.
7. Sample may also be collected from waste processing upto.
8. Sample size of about 100-150 kg is considered optimum as recommended is ASTM.
9. Sampling through the front and loader also reduces the change bias associated with manual collection,however large objects.

PROCEDURE:

1. Prepare 200-300 kg of waste from waste pill collection vehicles.
2. Mix and flatlen the waste
3. Divide into 4 blocks
4. Remove two blocks of waste diagonally opposite end.
5. Mix and latten remaining waste.
6. Divide into 4 block again.
7. Reduce the waste volume by same process.

CONCLUSION: 

          Hence the method of solid waste sampling was studied.
