Femur of Frog
i) It is the bone of the thigh region of the hind-limb and is long and slender having a slightly curved shaft.
ii) Proximal swollen end is head, which fits into the acetabulum of pelvic girdle. Head and condyle are covered by calcified cartilage.
iii) Distal end forms a condyle which articulates with tibia-fibula.
Femur of Varanus
i) It is the bone of the thigh of the hind-limb.
ii) It is a stout bone having an elongated shaft and two epiphyses.
iii) Proximal epiphysis develops a rounded head that fits into the acetabulum of the pelvic girdle.
iv) The greater trochanter on the posterior axial side is greatly reduced.
Femur of Fowl
i) It is the bone of the thigh of hindlimb.
ii) It is a short and powerful bone enlarged at both ends.
iii) Proximally it is produced on the inner side into a rounded head which fits into the acetabulum.
iv) Two prominent condyles are also present for articulation with tibia and fibula.
Femur of Rabbit
i) It is the bone of the thigh of hind-limb.
ii) It is an elongated and stoutest bone.
iii) It consists of a cylindrical shaft and enlarged proximal and dorsal ends.
iv) The condyles articulate with the tibia.
