GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION:
It is found in Europe, Asia and North America anywhere near water.
CHARACTERS:
i) Anas is commonly known as wild duck.
ii) It is an aquatic bird adapted for swimming. It is found in shallow lakes and marshes.
iii) Beak is broad and flat.
iv) Eyes are small on the sides.
v) Body is covered with waterproof feathers which make them light as well as provide insulation.
vi) Male has a crest on its head.
vii) It generally moves in a flock in water.
viii) It has a reduced sight power
ix) It feeds on crustaceans, insects etc.
ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE:
i) It is used as food.
